Anti-Latinx Racism from Charlottesville to the Arizona Desert

Wednesday, November 1, 2017

Thursday, November 9, 4:00-6:30 pm, 235 Jones Hall. Food will be provided. Students are especially encouraged to attend.

This workshop, which is part of the "Facing Race: Agency, Social Responsibility, and Intersectional Justice For All" series, will contextualize the nature of anti-Latinx racism in the United States, explore how the current deportation regime is fueled by a centuries-deep wave of anti-Mexican sentiment, and examine manifestations of anti-Latinx racism in Charlottesville, in the pardon of Sheriff Joe Arpaio, and in the President’s decision to rescind DACA.

Co-Sponsored by: Chicano & Latino Studies and the CLA Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Program
