#OurCulturesAreNotCostumes is a collaborative project between the Center for Multicultural Affairs at Duke University and students. It is relevant to the University of Minnesota and beyond. Their visual campaign addresses the issues of cultural appropriation and caricature, particularly during the Halloween season. In order to communicate a message of solidarity, individuals in the photos are not necessarily matched to images that represent their own culture. See their Tumblr for images.
