When I was asked why many African-American youth distrust mainstream news media, I began making a list. This list could have been written 10, 20 or 50 years ago, as those who have read the Kerner Commission Report would be able to testify.It is hard to trust an institution that ignores you unless you are perceived as causing a problem for 'the rest of us.'
