Gopher Chauffeur launches pilot program extending shuttle hours

Gopher Chauffeur is now available every night of the week — except Sundays — for free rides around campus. 

Increased demand last semester for the University of Minnesota’s late-night shuttle, along with a successful Minnesota Student Association resolution, brought the extra nights and 20 newly hired drivers to the service.

Discontented students interrupt February Board of Regents meeting

The University of Minnesota Board of Regents discussed a potential tuition increase, a new sexual misconduct initiative and institutional risks, among other topics, at its meetings Thursday and Friday. 

The meeting Friday was also interrupted by a group voicing opposition to proposed student conduct code changes.

A scheduled vote on the proposed student conduct code amendment was postponed amid criticism from some students and faculty.

Parents and children protest UMN Child Development Center closure

More than 25 families with small children piled into Morrill Hall and up the stairs to President Eric Kaler’s office at 4 p.m. Thursday.

Four days prior, parents from the University of Minnesota Child Development Center started a petition in response to the University’s recent decision to close the center in 2019. Parents and children from the CDC personally delivered the petition — which has 3,000 signatures — to the president’s office.
