Video: Who's Who - Who You Can Go to If You've Been Sexually Assaulted

This Minnesota Student Association (MSA) Sexual Assault Task Force created this video in partnership with the off of Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action (EOAA), the Aurora Center, and the University of Minnesota Police Department (UMPD). They are advocating for this to be included into orientation curriculum.

Disability resources feel strain of increasing student needs

Disability resource staff at the University of Minnesota have felt the strain of increasing student needs — and leaders are calling for better data collection and more funding.

The annual student representatives’ report presented at last month’s Board of Regents meeting showed that many students felt disability services and education are lacking at the University.

Conservative students feel less respected on campus, data shows

In a year featuring protests of conservative speakers on campus, survey data shows the campus climate has become increasingly difficult for conservative students to navigate.

The most recent data from Student Experience in the Research Universities survey showed conservative students’ agreement with the statement, “Students of my political beliefs are respected on this campus” has declined in recent years. The SERU survey is currently open for this year. 


Three multi-use facilities now available for foot washing

The University is committed to ensuring that the campus is welcoming, respectful, and accessible to all. Three years ago a planning group came together to discuss how to address the lack of facilities for the many University students and employees who are Muslim and need to have the ability to wash their feet several times in the course of the day. Lacking proper facilities, some people have resorted to using conventional restroom sinks, which is difficult to do and presents safety issues for all users.

Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Program Scholars, College of Liberal Arts:

Sorrow and celebration walk hand-in-hand today.  On April 4, 1968, Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated on what was once just another balcony of the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee. While Dr. King’s human life came to an end 50 years ago today, we continue to celebrate his legacy, and use this day to renew our steadfast commitment to equity and social justice.
