Group Starting for DACAmented and Undocumented Students

Tuesday, August 17, 2021

This fall, Student Counseling Services and the Immigration Response Team are creating a new supportive space for U of M students who are Dreamers, Undocumented, DACAmented, and/or part of a Mixed Status family. This group will be a confidential space for students to cultivate community and talk about topics of interest like navigating the University of Minnesota, relationships, xenophobia/colorism, and more. Although group members may come with various immigration statuses, this will be a space to support one another.

For the fall semester, the group will meet virtually on Thursdays weekly from 3:30-4:45 PM CST from October 14-November 18. Interested students can complete this Google form to express interest. One of the group facilitators will then contact the student to arrange a 30-minute individual orientation to talk more about the group and answer any questions.

Questions? Review the group’s complete description on the intake form or email In addition to talking about the group, Marissa Hill-Dongre (Director of the Immigration Response Team) will be happy to discuss other resources at the University for DACAmented, undocumented, and all students impacted by immigration changes.

Marissa is also available to talk to academic advisors and other U of M staff/departments wishing to support students, and information about other resources can be found on the Immigration Response Team website.
