Update on Executive Order on Immigration

Tuesday, September 26, 2017

The following message was sent from Barbara Kappler, Ph.D., assistant dean, International Student and Scholar Services, to international students, scholars and employees from Chad, Iran, Iraq, Libya, North Korea, Venezuela, Somalia, Syria, and Yemen:

Dear students, scholars, and employees from Chad, Iran, Iraq, Libya, North Korea, Venezuela, Somalia, Syria, and Yemen,

President Trump issued a proclamation on immigration late yesterday. The New York Times provides a clear summary of the proclamation.

We will carefully review the proclamation to understand the implications for international students, scholars, researchers, staff, and faculty and will communicate more detailed updates on the ISSS website as soon as possible. Please also check the Immigration Response Team (IRT) website for detailed updates.

We are here to support you and your ability to achieve your academic and professional goals. We understand and deeply regret the disruption and uncertainty these orders have already brought to your experiences in the United States.

ISSS and the IRT invite those directly impacted by this new order to attend a gathering this Friday, Sept. 29, from 11 a.m.  to 12 p.m. in room 1-123 of the Carlson School of Management. We would like to hear your concerns and answer any questions as best we can at this time.

Please also know that you are welcome to contact our office to address your individual questions about travel and the implications of this new travel ban.

We stand with you.
